We are four days away from our 5&Alive Celebration! Some of you are asking what should I wear, what would you like me to bring and when should I get there? So let's take the last piece first. The party is from 5-10pm. Food will be served starting at 5:30pm. If you bring a dish to share, don't worry arrive when it's right for you. At between 6:30-6:45pm, I will gather with all of you on the dance floor to flip the switch for dancing, after I've introduced you to my healing community and thanked some very cool people. There are going to be little surprises throughout the evening so whenever you get there it will be perfect timing.
What to wear - something that you feel really good in. People have told me they are wearing dresses for the first time in a while. Whatever says to you "I feel really good!" that's what you should wear.
What to bring - Remember, no gifts. Do donate via my PayPal link to Ann Eickhof's fundraising campaign - I'm paying it forward. You'll meet Ann on Saturday!
What food to bring - What about a fresh green late summer (or early fall) salad, how about a quinoa salad (look up quinoa if you don't know what it is, it's good for you!) or a raw dish that you love (I know you will need to get creative here), a side veggie dish that makes you go yum! And if you'd rather then bring a bottle of wine or something you love to sip. I'm sure whatever you bring, if you decide to do this, it will go well with the entrees. Of course we will have the 5&Alive Signature Drink too! I am so excited that you are coming...love is flowing big time. PS There's plenty of parking in front of the house and on Fig an Elder Streets that surround Chateau Houghtailing. See you soon!

5 & Alive Celebration and Milestone
Five years! My chances of a continued long life have just increased by 87%. That's cause for celebration. At 5&Alive you will have a chance to meet many of the professionals who comprise my healing community, like my lymph masseuse, green juice goddess, physicians who performed amazing surgeries and others. See their websites on the right hand side of this page. It's back to the basics, back to community and a return to a simpler, more conscious life for me and one filled with blessings. Each one of you I count as one of those blessings. And what do you give someone who is celebrating her five year anniversary? Keep giving the gift of hope by donating any amount to my friend Ann www.anncan.net/home at the paypal account to the right. See you on the 29th...get ready to have fun and party!

She Shoots She Scores!
No atypical cells! That's what the pathology report read...happy day! Dr. Bahador said that I'm healing nicely and am on course. He said my feeling extremely tired is about healing from major surgery and to be expected. Freddie measured 13.5 cm which is about the size of a pregnancy at four months. Who knew! The human body, the temple of the soul -- how amazing it is.
On July 7th, 2010 I will have been three years "cancer free". When you get passed the five year mark you are considered "cured". Right now the doctor is planning on releasing me to return to work on July 7th, work from home the first week and then jump back into the office life after that. Until then the focus is on healing the body...you only get one chance to do this right.
Such good news and I really feel that the surgeries and illness are behind me -- I can't tell you how peaceful and grateful that makes me feel. So when you're out there in life this week would you think of me when you celebrate...and give yourselves a huge big hug because life and you are so much more precious than we know.
Love Karen
PS I'm reading a great book by Thomas Moore, "Care of the Soul in Medicine" and I quote, "Spirituality always involves some kind of transcending of limitations and challenges. You find more strength than you knew you had. You don't succumb to resignation and cynicism. You go beyond your narcissism or your worry about yourself. You arrive at peace with your fate..."
