Update: Karen's 2nd surgery went well on 12/7 !!

Family & Friends:

A quick update ... Karen's reconstruction surgery on Friday morning 12/7 went well and was uneventful - a very good thing, per her surgeon Dr. B.! She is resting, eating, and already taking short walks.

As Karen said in her last post, the procedure was to swap a saline implant with its fill-port for a permanent silicone implant. A big thanks to Dr. B. and a great surgical team at the UTC Surgery Center here in San Diego! And of course, the generous healing spirit of Blackie, our 14 yr old dog who passed away a few days before Karen's surgery. He was most certainly with her during her procedure. We only wish his wagging tail was there to greet us at the front door when we returned home that day.

Karen will rest the next three weeks and return to work in early January. Stay tuned for Karen's next post. Thank you for your healing prayers and well wishes. Happy Holidays,

Jeff

I'm so happy to hear your surgery went well and SO sad to hear about Blackie. He'll be watching over you while you heal, I'm sure. Thanks so much for the fabulous napkins. They match my new cooking apron, which features a contemplative 1950s woman and reads, "I understand the concept of cooking and cleaning, just not as they apply to me." Love you! - Leslie

I have been thinking of you lately. I am so glad the surgery went well you have this time off of work to heal.

Sorry about Blackie, pets are family and 14 yrs is a long time to be with a pet. I remember when my cat Snowy died, I kept dreaming that he was still alive and could not understand why I was telling people he was dead.

I am glad Blackie was with you during your most trying times. Hopefully, this is a sign that the trying times are behind you.
