Karen's surgery this morning went smoothly - and no complications. She is doing well. In fact, this evening she got out of bed for a short while to walk around her hospital bed with the nurse. A good "first step", and she knows not to push it too hard. Her recovery will take some time given this was a major surgery. Karen felt better as the day wore on - esp as the anesthesia wore off. She's still on IV pump pain medication and fluids.
Her progress is on track with her good health going into her surgery, and her fortitude and determination to make it a "brief" stay at the hospital. Resting at home is MUCH better and offers more peace and quiet than a busy hospital floor.
