What have I been doing lately you may ask? Kicking back and taking it easy...yeah right! I have a full schedule every day that includes some or all of the following -- doctor visits, phone calls to other women who have joined or are in the BC club, physical therapy, health and disability insurance issues, yoga therapy, iridologist and homeopathic appointments, research/research/research for other therapies post surgery (it's amazing what's out there -- amazing -- good and not so good)...well, you're getting the picture of what might encompass my daily routine. And don't even get me started on my nutrition regime.
So I thought I'd update you on something concrete -- post surgery recovery. My surgery sites are healing beautifully. As a matter of fact, last week I'm driving along when all of the sudden I feel like my new left breast is getting stung by bees. I breathe through this sharp, catch my breath type of pain and pass it off as well -- a passing thing. Three hours later I'm still breathing through this and now have decided to call my surgeon. I talked with Debbie in Dr. Bartt

lebort's office who gives me a little giggle and says, "Congratulations, Karen, you're experiencing zingers!" Translation -- my nerve endings are rebirthing and this is very healthy. I say zing away! Something new every day...I've included a photo (courtesy of Jeff) of my reconstruction surgeon -- who was just voted, for the third year in a row, "held in highest regards by his peers". You'll see all the other doctor's who made it in their category in an upcoming SD Magazine. Dr. B, as we fondly refer to him, is not only an amazing surgeon but a caring and compassionate human being. And you are nothing without the staff that supports you when you are running a surgical business. Emmie, Kristy and Debbie make me feel like I'm joining them for lunch every time I come into his office.
I'm very much still in research mode for my next step. And knee deep into exploring other therapies. I'm planning on having direction for this next step by mid to late September. The oncologists are in concert with this timing. Blessings continue to come my way and I very much continue to appreciate and want your support, prayers and by the way it's ok to call me too!
Zinging away,
Karen

When I read the title .. I thought it was going to be some strange Hostess food craving .. and I had no idea nerve endings can rebuild - how wonderful! Zing Away!
Glad to hear you are doing so well and that things are moving along for you.
I will be thinking of you when I walk in the Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in October.
God bless you (as He did me) with continuing full recovery!
